Ante-Natal Pilates is starting soon!

I’m so exciting to say this….. ANTE-NATAL PILATES STARTS 15th Jan, woohoo! I’ve been really wanting to run this class for a while but it’s taken me a while to build up my confidence and take the plunge. These classes are going to focus on strengthening core muscles, keeping backs, hips and bodies healthy throughout pregnancy as well as help prepare for birth with breathing, relaxation and strength. Mums can then move into post-natal classes when they are ready 🙂

I’m purposely keeping these classes small so get in contact quickly if you would like one of the few remaining spaces, £25 for 4 weeks.

No classes Thursday, Friday and Saturday :(

Hopefully all you regulars know this but there won’t be any classes this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Usual service will be resumed Monday and I have a couple of spaces Monday 5.30pm and Monday 6.30pm if you would like to come along then instead.

If I don’t see you then make sure you get some practice in…knee folds, shoulder bridges and press ups please!

Sad Goodbyes and Happy Hellos

After about 6 months of having a certain 3 mummies and their babies in my post natal class the time has come for them to return to work 🙁 Its been such a pleasure having them in the class and learning with them as our babies grow and as the class moved location and developed. In the early stages the babies all sat in their car seats and slept (well mine was in a sling), and over the months they have progressed to laying on mats, rolling over, sitting up and now crawling and standing. We have had classes where its been feed, feed, feed, other memorable moments where there have been epic dirty nappies (!) and times when all the babies have cried at once 🙁 then occasionally, and more frequently as they have got older, there have been times of peace. In those moments we have often looked at each other, savoured the time and wondered how long it would last! These 3 mummies and babies have become firm friends of mine and of each others, showing how friendships can blossom as you exercise, especially in a small class. Special thanks must go to them for supporting me and coming along, sharing their top tips and to their babies for being stars! Extra mention must go to the fabulous Daddy day-care for his expert care of our babies too.

It seems I’ve got these mummies hooked on Pilates as they have all transferred over into different classes, in fact I put new classes on to cater for them 🙂 and they are enjoying the difference of Pilates without babies.

So although it is very sad to see faces leave post natal Pilates I’m pleased to see these ladies progress and move forward, plus I have been able to take new mummies and gorgeous babies into the class. Today saw 3 new mummies come along and I got to have lovely cuddles. I’m looking forward to getting to know them and help them strengthen their bodies and tone up their core.

Here are a few photos of the babies who have moved on….

First week in the new studio

So after finally taking the plunge and converting our front room to a little Pilates studio its been really exciting to have my first classes in there. The room itself only takes 6 people plus me, but that’s actually a lovely sized class so everyone gets help and advice from me and I can see what everyone is up to….so no more hiding in the back row! Its nice and quiet compared to the place we had been using plus has the added bonus of all equipment being on hand 🙂

Monday night the mixed ability class went well, my husband asked if we even did any pilates as all he could hear was laughter! I hasten to say that this class is a fun filled one and they were all working hard just giving me plenty of back chat with it!

Tuesday saw the post natal class with mums in the pilates studio and babes in the lounge with James. It was lovely to have so much space for the babes to roll about it and hear them gurgling whilst mummies had more time to get on and do some pilates in peace. Plus we had the added bonus of a cuppa afterwards.

This morning I had some one to one Pilates clients and tonight its a beginners class. So a pretty full Pilates week, but I’ve even managed to fit in my own personal Pilates as well which has been so needed and enjoyed.

Pilates Studio

I now have my very own little Pilates studio! When I say little it is indeed little, in that I can only take 6 in a class and there’s not much room for me, which of course means everyone else has to work extra hard as I’ll be watching and correcting more. Also there will be more chance to use equipment and for posture analysis in these smaller classes.

So I will be teaching one to one Pilates from the studio and some classes will move to my studio too. Look forward to seeing you there soon.

Beginners Class on a Thursday

There will be a beginners class running on Thursdays 5.30-6.15pm in Bitterne Triangle from April 7th. Cost £20 for 4 weeks.

This class will be suitable if you have had no previous experience or if you have attended one of my beginner courses.

Limited spaces as these classes are kept small so each individual can get one to one instructor help with ensuring they are doing the exercises safely and effectively.

Please contact me if you would like to come along.

Ante Natal/Post Natal Pilates

I’m going to be running some ante natal/post natal Pilates sessions on Tuesdays 2.30-3.30pm at St Denys Church Centre. Small babies are welcome, we shall be placing them next to mums so they can engage in the class too. The class is an hour but this allows for a little time of mums needing to comfort babies so we won’t all get an hour of Pilates done! There will be someone on hand to help with babies to give mums a break too so mums can get some Pilates done even if babies need cuddles 🙂

I will also have space in my Monday evening class at 5.30pm for pregnant mums or post-natal ladies.

Please contact me to book a space.
