Plus there are still a pile of treats hanging around tempting you. I know as there are choccies and cake in my house looking at me.<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0Detox is one of those buzz words each New Year.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&#8220;a\u00a0period\u00a0when you stop\u00a0taking unhealthy\u00a0or harmful foods\/drinks, or drugs\u00a0into your body\u00a0for a period\u00a0of time,\u00a0in order\u00a0to improve your health&#8221;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Which got me thinking as to how Pilates can be seen as a detox, cleansing the body of things we don&#8217;t want, improving health.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.pilateswithpriya.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Detox-with-Pilates.png?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1425\" alt=\"Pilates with Priya: Detox with Pilates\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.pilateswithpriya.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Detox-with-Pilates-300x300.png?resize=300%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.pilateswithpriya.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Detox-with-Pilates.png?resize=300%2C300&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.pilateswithpriya.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Detox-with-Pilates.png?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.pilateswithpriya.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Detox-with-Pilates.png?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>1. It releases tight muscles. A tight muscle is going to cause a restriction in your movement patterns and may cause pain.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>2. It stretches you. Those muscles that are shortened will love you for it. One of the common ones being the hamstrings which are shortened if you sit down a lot.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>3. It relaxes and calms you. No one goes out of our classes feeling more stressed or anxious than when they walked in.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>So for me, Pilates is the ultimate detox. It leaves my mind and body feeling decluttered, destressed and detoxed.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>So in 2015, step away from the fad diets, the juices, those resolutions that won&#8217;t last. Embrace a healthy lifestyle, eating a balanced intake of food you enjoy and that is good for you.
