In particular, Pilates exercises teach awareness of breath and alignment of the spine, and aim to strengthen the deep abdominal muscles.<\/p>\n<p>So in brief Pilates can help strength the spine (aiding back problems), strengthen the abs (tone up that tummy), strengthen your breathing, and strengthen your ability to concentrate, relax and focus.<\/p>\n<p>Exercises are done stood, lying down, on your side and in 4 point kneeling. We teach mat-work classes, sometimes adding in resistance bands, balls, rings and rollers.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><em>&#8220;In 10 sessions you will feel the difference, in 20 you will see the difference and in 30 you will have a whole new body&#8221;<\/em> ~ Joseph Pilates.<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Can I do Pilates with a medical condition?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pilates is suitable for all people groups. We have people with chronic back pain, shoulder issues, hypermobility, hip replacements, Parkinsons and other problems come for classes. \u00a0If you have a specific medical issue or injury then please do let your instructor and Priya\/James know so alternative exercises can be given and you receive the best from your class. We also offer 1-2-1 sessions and it may be suggested that you have some of these alongside your classes to give you extra support.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do you have men in your classes too?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pilates was designed by a man and was used to help soldiers rehabilitate in the war, so it is definitely suitable for men.
